Lindenhurst Memorial Library’s 15-month project was management by Park East Construction with general contracting provided by RENU. The scope of work included a state of the art, two story, 3,000 sq. ft. extension for the young adult section. A new entryway rotunda was built, reminiscent of one of the many lighthouses around Long Island and a new kid-friendly courtyard, complete with stylized rubberized surface. The entire rest of the library was upgraded with energy efficient curtainwalls, glazing, lighting, HVAC, and Wi-Fi building management systems. A plethora of ADA-compliant upgrades were, perhaps, the most needed enhancements to this old public building. The renovation consisted of complete overhauls to all seven bathrooms, widening of the elevator by 2 ft in both directions, and adding ramps where necessary both inside and out to give unhindered access to all locations and services to those with special needs.
