After completing two auditoriums in the Connetquot school district, Oakdale Bohemia Middle School and Ronkonkoma Middle School, in 2021, RENU returned to Connetquot HS in 2022 for the auditorium renovation hat-trick. Another space in need of a major facelift, the entire space was gutted down to the slab – everything was replaced, repaired, or re-finished. Working alongside the HVAC prime contractor and Roland’s Electric, RENU reconstructed all the side walls to be angled and finished with maple acoustic panels. The rear wall was finished with a new angled facade and fabric wrapped panels from floor to ceiling. RENU was challenged to engineer and build a 60’ long acoustical cloud to be hung and suspended over the stage proscenium, which our project superintendent Barry Sturm helped design and structure with JAG architects. RENU also resurfaced all the suspended cloud ceilings and, alongside Milburn, refinished the stage and installed carpet and epoxy throughout the entire auditorium. In addition to this large space, work was done to renovate all the support / auxiliary spaces, music practice rooms, dressing rooms, instrument storage rooms, and the entire guidance suite. While the schedule was supposed to run until February 2023, RENU achieved substantial completion in December 2022, just in time for the district to show off the auditorium space for their holiday concert.
