Construction Safety Manager

We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Safety Manager to join our team.  Based out of our Copiague, NY office, the Construction Safety Manager will report directly to the Compliance Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Uphold and promote RM’s Safety Culture – putting the safety and well-being of our employees above all
  • Perform assessment of current safety management program to identify strengths and weaknesses, prepare a roadmap for growing our safety program/culture over time
  • Maintain library of safety documents and templates including CHASP, Job Hazard Analysis, Site Specific plans, reporting forms, safety tiers – revise as needed
  • Maintain library of employee safety certifications, renewal process, onboarding of new employees
  • Lead quarterly Safety Committee Meetings
  • Conduct inspections of RMS facilities / jobs prior to loss control visits by insurance carriers
  • Manage team of site safety inspectors (currently 2), assign tasks as necessary
    • Perform safety inspections at various jobsites
    • Visually inspect jobsites to identify and address potential hazards
    • Correct deficiencies in the field and, if not possible, call leadership to discuss
    • Compile daily reports according to company policy and tiered classification system
    • File daily reports with the office and save in Procore and / or job folders
    • Conduct monthly inspections for First Aid kits, Incident Kits, fire extinguishers, and eyewash stations- refill as needed.
  • Keep meticulous records to ensure compliance with various OSHA regulations and Federal / State / Local laws.
  • Maintain compliance with all safety regulations and ensure field employees do as well
  • Establish a cordial and professional relationship with employees
  • Inspecting tools, verify for safe use
  • Conduct safety orientations and toolbox talks
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or Associate Degree (Health and/or Occupational Safety a plus)
  • Working knowledge of OSHA Regulations
  • Knowledge of the technical aspect of the work and trades, ability to evaluation and identify jobsite hazards
  • Valid competency certificates – OSHA 30, 40hr SST, CPR/First Aid
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficient in all Microsoft applications
  • A valid NYS Driver License and ability to drive to locations on Long Island and Westchester
